Staying safe this summer

 In Uncategorized

Summer is finally here! There are tons of fun activities to do like: swim, play your favorite sport, or take a day trip to the beach. While summer is fun, it is important to be safe. Staying safe prevents any minor or major injuries from ruining your summer. Here are a few tips and tricks to help you stay safe this summer.

Wear eye protection

Sunglasses are more than just a simple fashion statement, they also protect your eyes. Sunglasses protect your eyes against UV rays. When shopping for sunglasses, find ones that protect the sides of your eyes. If you have to wear prescription glasses to see, ask your eye doctors for your options regarding eye protection. There are prescription sunglasses, sunglasses attachments for prescription glasses, and wearing contact lenses.

Doing yard work in the summer is very common. It is a great time to make small or big changes to your landscaping. When working in the yard dust, dirt, and other debris can get into the air. Wearing protective glasses can keep harmful contaminants from getting into your eyes and causing irritation. Protective glasses and goggles can usually be found at your local hardware store.

Stay cool

In the summer temperatures rise, and being outside in the middle of the day should be avoided. Stay in air conditioned areas when it is possible, like your Midvale Apartments. If you have to be outside try to take breaks, especially during the hottest parts of the day.

Remember to stay hydrated. Drink water throughout your day, even if you are not particularly thirsty.

Doing both of these can help you avoid getting heat stroke. Some signs that you have heat stroke are: paleness, feeling weak,  dizziness, fainting, nausea, headaches, and a rapid pulse.

Use sunscreen

Wearing sunscreen can protect your skin from getting burned. It also protects your skin from other harmful rays from the sun, which can cause skin cancer.
