TIPS TO SAVE ENERGY THIS FALL
Legacy Court provides Midvale Utah apartments with free heat and gas, which takes away the fear of worrying about a higher bill once it starts to get cold out. Even though we’ve got you covered, we think it’s considerate to always do your part to save energy at home. Fall is here and winter will be here before you know it but there are lots of ways to save energy during the colder months ahead. Here are just a few of our favorite tips.
CLOSE YOUR WINDOWS
A breeze can be nice when it’s warm inside but once the air starts to get crisp, we recommend closing your windows or only opening them for brief amounts of time during the day. The cold air will lower the overall temperature and will cause the heater to kick on much more frequently throughout the day. Closing the windows can save hundreds of dollars each year.
LET MAINTENANCE KNOW OF PROBLEMS
Some home problems that are costing energy are dirty filters, drafty windows, and leaks. If you notice any issues, don’t delay, let your Midvale Utah Apartments office know right away so we can fix the problem. It’s best to fix it right away rather than waiting until the middle of winter when it’s really going to be cold.
DON’T BLOCK VENTS
Make sure to do a quick walk around your home to make sure that nothing is blocking your vents. If you have furniture blocking a vent, you may have some issues keeping your entire apartment warm. Resist the urge to use these areas as storage space when it’s warmer because you’ll just have to reorganize everything once the heater kicks on.
TURN YOUR THERMOSTAT DOWN
People often turn their thermostat up higher than it needs to be for a comfortable apartment. When you are home and awake, set your thermostat as low as possible so that you’re still comfortable. When you are asleep or not at home, turn your thermostat down for as long as you are asleep or gone and you’ll save quite a bit of energy each year.
UNPLUG APPLIANCES WHEN NOT IN USE
If you have lots of little appliances all over your apartment, you probably haven’t given them much thought. We recommend going through each room of your home and making note of which appliances are currently plugged into outlets. If you aren’t using them, try to get into the habit of unplugging them to save energy.
We hope these tips help save energy in our Midvale Utah apartments. We hope everyone has a cozy fall and winter this year.
